Luis and his mighty group of 10 hikers have completed Day 1 on their journey to the summit of Kilimanjaro. The company, Climb Kili, will send updates daily on their progress. Here is the first!

The group has now finished Day 1: LONDOROSSI GATE to MTI MKUBWA

After a restful night at the hotel, we begin our trek from western side checking in at the Londorossi gate. The trail with gently ascend through the montane forest until you are welcomed into camp under the Climb Kili banner with tents set up and your personal belongings inside. Tonight's camp is nestled in the Kilimanjaro rain forest at the Mti Mkubwa which in Swahili means Big Tree.
All is well and they are resting for the night. I will try to update as often as possible although sometimes over the weekend or if they are in a spotty area for reception they do not update. I will not be sending update emails on Sunday. **Please be aware that the updates we send might seem to be lacking in personal detail… that's actually a good thing! Most days, there is really nothing specific or personal to report- the group is doing great, everyone got to the next camp etc. If someone is sick, needs to come down or there is extreme weather we will definitely let you know. We will also try to let you know as soon as possible when the group summits. Otherwise, just enjoy the journey along the summit to Kilimanjaro!
